Life in Christ

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation…

2. Corinthians 5:17

With this article, I want to talk about “life in Christ”. I will be focusing on the facts, the bible tells us, how a life in Christ looks like. There are many theories how a life in Christ shall look like. After getting enough stories and versions, I want to stick to the facts the bible says.

God created humans in his image. This means originally men and women were created as complete and pure creations. Without any sin and any evil thoughts.

Unfortunately, it did not last long, and humans got tempted into sin.

But God still loves his wonderful creation and gives every human the chance to get back on track. God did not abandon his creation and still works patiently till today.

So, let’s start with some facts.

A person, who committed his life to Christ has certain characteristics. He or she pays attention to avoid sin at any cost, this is the first major point.
Sin is what disconnects a person from God. Let us see shortly what sin is.

Sin is any action we do, knowing it is wrong to do so, but ignoring and doing it anyway. Even words can be sinful, for example, a lie. It is not possible to lie, without notice. This leads us to the point which proves, that we cannot be sinning without knowing it.

If we look at the first sin humans did, it is very clear. God said not to eat from the fruit of that specific tree. God said clearly which tree and he said clearly not to eat this fruit. There was no misunderstanding and the story in the bible tells us, Eve knew exactly what God said. She had no doubts at all, till that moment when the serpent started asking if she really understood well, trying to convince her.
This shows us clearly the definition of sin, especially in the matter of not committing to do something.

But God tells us about another sin too. We read in James 4:17
“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”

This means, if we see someone who needs help and we can do “good” and we fail to do so, it is a sin.

There are many more things to this, but I do not want to cover it here for now and stick to the main topic.

To keep it short, we can say, the main character is to love God and obey his commandments. This is what Jesus tells us in the scripture. This is basically all that God expects from his child.

Matthew 22:37-38
“You shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”

Further, he says in 39-40:
“And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the Prophets.”

This first commandment includes: “You shall have no other gods besides me”Exodus 20:3

Especially in our times, we notice, Satan is coming up with lots of different ideas to distract God’s children and seduce them to accept other gods. Lots of events are happening with demonic ceremonies, where we shall not attend under any circumstances.

One other text shows us some very important things too.

We read in Luke 9:23
And he said to all “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me”

This means a true Christian does not follow Jesus Christ just on a Sunday or while in Church. Jesus said to deny ourselves and taking up our cross daily, all the time. Living a life in Christ is a lifestyle!

But this also means, not to take any other cross or burden of anyone else. No matter who tries to put some burdens on you. This is very important. There are always people or churches who want to put some burdens on other people. Stay aware and do not take any of it. Jesus said clearly to take your own cross and follow him, Jesus Christ, not a Priest, not a Pastor, not a Pope.

Do not let anyone tell you of some extra burdens to carry. Jesus does not teach that. If you are carrying your own cross and follow Jesus in true love to him, you have all you need.
